Bain Capital’s Tender Offer for INFORICH Draws Attention to the Shared Power Bank Business

Apr 17, 2026

Bain Capital has launched a tender offer for INFORICH Inc., the operator of the ChargeSPOT shared power bank service in Japan. According to public disclosures, the offer was made through Bain Capital-affiliated entity BCJ-102 at JPY 4,560 per share as part of a management buyout.

Beyond the transaction itself, the deal has also drawn attention to the shared power bank business. In recent years, shared charging services have become a common part of daily urban life. As smartphones are used for payment, messaging, navigation, work, and entertainment, users are more likely to need charging support while they are outside the home or office. This creates steady demand in places such as shopping malls, restaurants, transportation hubs, tourist areas, and entertainment venues.

From a business perspective, shared power banks are not only a rental product. They are also part of a broader operating system that includes hardware deployment, software management, payment connection, maintenance, and location-based operations. For operators, the value of the business often depends on how efficiently they can place cabinets, manage devices, improve turnover, and expand network coverage. As deployment becomes denser and operations become more stable, the business model can become more scalable.

The INFORICH case shows that the sector is being viewed with longer-term business interest. The shared power bank market is gradually moving from a simple convenience service toward a more structured infrastructure business, especially in high-traffic commercial and public scenarios. This is one reason why leading operators with established networks, brand recognition, and operating capability are receiving increased market attention.

As of April 1, 2026, the tender offer had met the minimum acceptance requirement and was completed, with INFORICH expected to move forward with delisting procedures. Even so, the broader significance of the event lies in what it suggests about the market: the shared power bank business is increasingly being recognized as a business with operational depth, repeat-use demand, and room for further expansion.

For companies involved in the shared charging industry, this development is a reminder that long-term competitiveness will depend on more than hardware alone. Product reliability, system capability, payment compatibility, deployment experience, and ongoing service support will remain important as the market continues to develop.
